ENWORKS

What is the project?
Nearly 3000 businesses will be assisted over the lifetime of the project run across the Northwest by ENWORKS, a well established, not-for-profit organisation. The funding will allow ENWORKS to deliver a regional comprehensive environmental business support programme linked into Business Link Northwest.

ENWORKS links directly with SMEs to improve the market penetration, quality, consistency and impact of resource efficiency and waste minimisation support to businesses. It also supports businesses to assess and adapt to the threats and opportunities of climate change, and is strongly linked into the Northwest Climate Change Action Plan.

Cost savings of £31 million will be achieved through the project, including saving over half a million tonnes of materials used, over 700,000 tonnes of water used and over 100,000 tonnes of carbon saved. One of the key targets of the ERDF programme is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions generated from programme investments by 25%.

What is its purpose?
This project will help Northwest businesses reduce their use of energy (and other resources) making cost savings and reducing their impact on the environment at the same time.
